Safe Life, a Stockholm-based provider of life-saving solutions, has announced the acquisition of Defib Store Ltd, a UK-based manufacturer of Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) cabinets. The acquisition marks Safe Life’s third purchase in the UK, bringing the company’s total number of acquisitions to 25 since its inception in 2019. The move strengthens Safe Life’s position as a leading supplier of AEDs and life-saving equipment across Europe and North America.
The acquisition reflects Safe Life’s commitment to increasing its presence in the UK, a market that Safe Life CEO Jimmy Eriksson describes as “critical to our mission.” Speaking on the acquisition, Eriksson said, “We are happy to welcome Defib Store’s employees to Safe Life. The United Kingdom is an important market for us, and with the stellar reputation that Defib Store has built, we now have a solid base to continue building our infrastructure in the UK to save more lives.”
Expanding AED Capabilities
Defib Store, based in Derbyshire, is recognised as the UK’s leading independent supplier of AED cabinets. The company designs and manufactures bespoke AED enclosures that are used by emergency services, heart charities, and AED manufacturers. Defib Store’s cabinets are engineered to endure the toughest environments, ensuring AEDs are always ready for rescue operations. Their products are manufactured to ISO9001 standards and are widely recommended by the UK’s ambulance services.
With Defib Store now part of Safe Life’s portfolio, the acquisition broadens Safe Life’s capacity to deliver comprehensive AED solutions in the UK, combining its AED products with Defib Store’s specialist cabinets. Eriksson believes this combination will solidify Safe Life’s position as the largest AED specialist provider in the country.
A Strategic Step for Both Companies
Co-Founder of Defib Store, Alex Bennett, expressed optimism about the acquisition, citing the benefits for both customers and employees. “We are excited to join Safe Life not only to bring the best minds onboard but also to contribute to its mission of saving lives on a global scale. I feel it is the responsible decision to join Safe Life for the benefit of Defib Store’s customers, employees, and future, due to the significant investments that Safe Life continues to make in our collective mission,” Bennett said.
The acquisition comes shortly after Safe Life raised new capital, positioning the company to make further strategic acquisitions in key markets. Safe Life’s continued investments in human capital and technology are central to its goal of expanding its footprint across the globe.
