Manningham Housing Association (MHA) has been shortlisted in four categories at the Northern Housing Awards 2025, including the prestigious Landlord of the Year title.
The Bradford-based association, which primarily serves Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities, is also in contention for Northern Housing Team of the Year, with its Neighbourhood Services team recognised for its work.
MHA Customer Panel member Tausif Mohammed has been named a finalist for Tenant of the Year, while the association’s Odette’s Point scheme in Keighley is shortlisted for Best Affordable Housing Development (Up to £5 million).
MHA Chief Executive Lee Bloomfield said the recognition was a testament to the organisation’s efforts.
“Being shortlisted for a single Northern Housing Award is an achievement in itself, but being in the final reckoning for four is stunning,” he said.
“We often talk about the ‘MHA family.’ Everyone involved with what we do – tenants, staff, board members, project partners, and the wider neighbourhoods in Bradford and Keighley – should feel a real sense of pride at this outcome.”
He added that regardless of the results on the night, the association would remain focused on its core mission.
“Whatever happens at the prize-giving ceremony, we will continue to do the absolute best we can for those individuals, families, and communities whose needs we are there to serve.”
MHA has been recognised for its work in providing high-quality, affordable housing in areas that have historically suffered from underinvestment. The organisation not only focuses on housing but also engages with communities through various initiatives to improve social cohesion and economic opportunities.
MHA Vice-Chair Cym D’Souza said the association’s approach went beyond just housing provision.
“Manningham Housing Association is an incredibly special organisation,” she said.
“Giving people living in neighbourhoods where significant underinvestment has led to a lack of opportunities the chance to live in a decent home and safe environment will always be our top priority. However, it is what we do beyond this that makes us stand out.”
She added that despite the organisation’s limited resources, it continually seeks ways to enhance its services and impact.
“It is satisfying to know that this positive and ambitious approach has been recognised by the Northern Housing Awards judges.”
The Northern Housing Awards celebrate excellence across the sector, recognising organisations and individuals who make a difference to communities across the North of England.
The winners will be announced at an evening ceremony at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on Thursday 1 May.
