Bradford College has unveiled a new state-of-the-art engineering suite at its Trinity Green Campus, marking a significant step in its partnership with Metalcraft Group, a leading Bradford-based metal fabrication and engineering company. The collaboration aims to offer T Level Engineering students enhanced learning experiences, state-of-the-art equipment, and invaluable industry exposure.
The new facility, designed and equipped by Metalcraft Group, will provide students with the opportunity to engage in real-world engineering practices, giving them a distinct advantage when entering the workforce. T Levels, which are two-year vocational qualifications available after GCSEs, are designed in collaboration with businesses to ensure that students acquire the skills and knowledge needed for future careers in various industries. A key feature of the T Level Engineering qualification is a 45-day work placement with an employer, such as Metalcraft Group, which provides students with practical experience alongside their studies.
Stephen Smith, Head of Engineering at Bradford College, highlighted the importance of this partnership for students, saying: “We are delighted to be partnered with Metalcraft Group. This represents a major step forward for our T Level provision. Through this collaboration, our students will benefit from access to world-class engineering expertise and facilities.”
The facility at Trinity Green will showcase prototype examples of precision engineering, providing students with the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and machinery. The project also includes placement opportunities at Metalcraft Group, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with an industry leader.
Nathan Varley, CEO of Metalcraft Group, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for supporting local talent, stating: “We want to help empower the youth of Bradford going forward. There is incredible potential in the area, and this partnership is an opportunity to nurture and develop that talent, combining practical experience with classroom learning.”
Rob Oldroyd, General Manager at Metalcraft Precision Engineering, another branch of Metalcraft Group, emphasized the value of the partnership in shaping future engineering professionals. “This joint effort with Bradford College will give students a glimpse into the next generation of engineering talent and help cultivate the expertise needed for the industry’s future,” Oldroyd said.
The T Level in ‘Engineering: Design & Development’ will provide students with the knowledge and skills to design, test, and create innovative products. It combines theoretical learning with practical experience, covering engineering principles, design techniques, and manufacturing processes. The course aims to prepare students for careers in engineering and product development, equipping them with the tools needed to turn concepts into finished products.
Bradford College offers a wide range of T Level courses, and this new partnership with Metalcraft Group further strengthens its commitment to providing students with top-tier education and career opportunities.
