A new survey by French pâtissier Tipiak has revealed that food is a crucial element of parties and events, with over half of attendees prioritising food over drink. As the festive season approaches, the survey provides valuable insights into the preferences of partygoers and food service professionals alike.
According to the study, which was conducted by Perspectus Global and surveyed 2,000 UK adults, 54% of people believe that food plays a more important role than drinks at parties, receptions, and other social gatherings. In addition, half of the respondents admit that they choose their positions at events to ensure they have easy access to food or to the waiter carrying it.
Marie-Emmanuelle Chessé, International Development Project Manager at Tipiak, shared her thoughts on the findings: “The results are especially useful for food service professionals as we approach the busy festive season. Canapés, as a popular choice for receptions and parties, are particularly important. Tipiak’s ‘thaw and serve’ range can help caterers provide an impressive selection of authentic French canapés, allowing kitchen staff to focus on other aspects of event catering.”
Canapé Preferences and Party Etiquette
The survey also sheds light on how people prefer their canapés to be served. Four in ten Brits think that a canapé should be small enough to eat in one bite, while on average, partygoers would consume six canapés at an event. The findings suggest that canapés remain a popular choice for snacks at functions, particularly when they are easy to eat and complement drinks.
Tipiak, known for its range of French sweet and savoury pâtisserie, supplies a variety of pre-prepared canapé options to the UK hospitality sector. These include vegetarian and vegan selections, offering versatility for different dietary preferences. Each piece is hand-finished by expert bakers and chefs, ensuring high-quality, delicious snacks that are quick and convenient to serve.
The company’s ‘thaw and serve’ canapés are designed to simplify catering at events. They are prepared in advance and can be defrosted before serving, allowing food service professionals to save time and effort during the busy Christmas period.
The Growing Importance of Quality Catering
As the survey reveals, food plays a significant role in creating a positive experience at social events, with guests increasingly seeking high-quality, convenient options. Tipiak’s research further highlights the importance of delivering a spread of delicious and appealing canapés to guests. Whether for cocktail parties, receptions, weddings, or corporate events, canapés remain a popular and practical choice for food service providers looking to impress attendees.
The survey was conducted in June 2024, ahead of the festive season, and offers timely insights for the food service industry, particularly in light of increased demand during this time of year. For more information about Tipiak, visit www.Tipiakfoodservice.co.uk
