For almost ten years, I've been helping to build confidence and self-esteem in women and young girls. I am the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wonderfully Made Woman, a Manchester-based multi award-winning charity and winner of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2020. My charity helps create a safe and interactive environment for women and girls to be educated, empowered, and encouraged to thrive and live fulfilling lives.

Wonderfully Made Woman works with women and girls from across Manchester in areas such as Ardwick, Longsight, Beswick, Clayton, Miles Platting, Newton Heath, Moston, Openshaw and many more.

Wonderfully Made Woman plays a major role in supporting women, particularly those who have experienced domestic abuse. I'm passionate about addressing the stereotype of being a single mother in the community, as I have lived through that experience and I'm drawn to helping other single mothers.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Wonderfully Made Woman worked with buzz Manchester Health & Wellbeing Service. We worked with buzz Neighbourhood Health Workers Yasmin and Aron, they supported our group to get funding for a wellbeing project during the 2020 lockdown. Wonderfully Made Woman also became part of the Ardwick and Longsight COVID-19 Mutual Aid Group, working alongside over 30 charities across Manchester.

Our group helps women build their self-esteem, and also reduces social isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic through virtual events and one to one phone calls to ensure people remain connected, and take part in activities with other people.

We have also started an African food bank in Manchester to support BAME women and their families since the COVID-19 outbreak. The foodbank has since supported over 1,890 people across Manchester since it began in 2020. In addition, we've helped over 500 women access housing benefits, education, and supported them through immigration issues.

Wonderfully Made Woman will be 10 years old on 17th December 2021, to mark this special occasion we will be launching another magazine and we encourage individuals and organisations to share their experiences throughout the pandemic, and their success stories!
