Meet Team buzz: Rita
What’s your role within buzz Manchester Health & Wellbeing Service?
I am an Exercise Tutor. My role is to supervise and deliver specific exercise classes to patients with chronic health conditions. These classes are delivered by the Physical Activity Referral Service (PARS) team, which is one of the many services offered by buzz.
Describe a typical day at work…
I always start my day in the office around 8:30am, this gives me chance to see my colleagues and discuss any important information about my classes and patients. By 10am, I am normally starting my first exercise class which could be in north, central or south Manchester. After my morning classes I go back to the office, have lunch and prepare myself for my afternoon classes. Whilst I'm in the office I sometimes help Maxine out with phone calls too.
What do you love most about your job?
I love everything to be honest! Getting this job was a dream come true when I moved here from Portugal. I would say the best thing is the feeling of personal fulfilment that my classes and work give me. I love being able to help other people and share my knowledge, it's a really good feeling.
If you had to do another job for one day what would you pick?
I would definitely be a Heart Surgeon. I have always been very fascinated with heart conditions. To be able to save someone's life with surgery is an amazing thing.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy riding my bike and going to the gym. I always try to make the most of the limited sunshine Manchester has to offer!
What’s your favourite thing about Manchester?
My favourite thing about Manchester is the feeling that you can be or do whatever you want here, no one is going to judge you. I guess it gives me a feeling of freedom.
