Neighbourhood Health Worker
I work in Hulme, Moss Side and Rusholme with local residents, community groups and various organisations. I support individuals and the local community to develop projects that will help to improve their health and wellbeing.
I started my career in the theatre in London and Manchester then moved into social care in 1995, working for the NHS in mental health and Manchester City Council as an Outreach Worker. I then moved into management in 2007. My road back to the NHS came in 2017 when I was asked to be part of the buzz team.
The thing I love most about buzz is the freedom to be imaginative and the opportunity to support local people to create projects. I like seeing the expression on residents’ faces when they are told they can get support to do a particular idea they have.
I love music, learning about music and singing in choirs. I fell in love with theatre when I first visited the Royal Exchange Theatre in 1980. Unfortunately, the things that I love are on hold now due to COVID-19. Thankfully we have Zoom!

“By attending buzz's PARS exercise classes, it encouraged me to join a walking group, a gym and a gardening class at Whitworth Art Gallery.”
