Neighborhood Health Worker
I work with people who live in Gorton and Levenshulme offering support and encouragement to anyone who wants to be more involved in their community. I do this either by helping them link up with something that’s already going on in the area or by helping them to set up something new that they want to make happen.
I worked as a Kitchen Manager for many years until qualifying as an Acupuncture Therapist in 2009 at the University of Salford, then I set up my own private clinic in Manchester. From 2013 I started working with buzz, and in 2015 I started working in Gorton and Levenshulme as a Neighbourhood Health Worker.
For me the best thing about my work is getting to see up close all the amazing things that are happening in Gorton and Levenshulme, as well as seeing how much people get out of making something new happen for people in their community.
Although I am originally from Manchester I grew up on the Isle of Arran, but have always had strong ties with the city. I finally moved back to Manchester in 2002 following a few years living with family in St Lawrence county in New York. In 2016 my eldest daughter Nina came along, followed by Mia in 2018 who have both been keeping me on my toes ever since.
