Community Champion – Age Friendly

My role is to ensure older people’s voices are being heard and that their needs are being considered within neighbourhood planning and services. To do this we work closely with Age Friendly Manchester and Age Friendly networks across the city.

Since joining the NHS about 10 years ago in the public health team, I have been involved in a range of projects that have supported the health and wellbeing of Manchester residents. Before that I worked and trained as a teacher and had various roles in the arts and voluntary sector.

I love the fact that buzz can support individuals and organisations in a massively wide range of initiatives all with the same aim, to improve the health of wellbeing of their communities.

For my wellbeing I like to get out in the countryside for a walk and a picnic, and we are spoilt for choice in Manchester with so many great places to visit close by. Recently I’ve taken up the couch to 5k challenge so I may be able to add running to my list of hobbies, I’ll keep you posted!

If you found this page helpful, maybe someone else will too?
