Neighbourhood Health Worker – Start Well Develop Well
My role focuses specifically on improving the health and wellbeing of children and families through a community development approach.
Engaging with parents to find out more about their lives, and empowering them to identify and build on the things that support them to live happier, healthier lives, is central to the approach of the Start Well Develop Well team at buzz.
My background is in public health nutrition and in particular weight management in children. I strongly believe good food and nutrition is essential for a great mind, body and soul! I have worked for the NHS in the community in Manchester for over 15 years.
I love speaking with the diverse people of our great city. The fact that every day is different keeps things exciting and fresh. One day might be office based catching up with emails, phone calls and project reports, whilst the next day may involve joining in a messy play session with children whilst speaking to parents and finding out what keeps them and their families healthy and happy.
I enjoy eating out and meeting up with family and friends when I’m not being a taxi driver for my two boys! I like watching films and love reading. I’ve recently got a bike so I’m enjoying local bike rides.
