Physical Activity Referral Manager
My role in buzz is to manage the Physical Activity Referral Service (PARS). I work with my team to ensure we deliver evidence based physical activity sessions suitable for our service users living with long term health conditions. I link with many activity partners across Manchester to help aid our delivery of sessions in the heart of Manchester’s communities.
I started my career in health fitness in 2001 after I graduated from university. I worked as a Fitness Instructor designing fitness programmes for individuals, this is where I quickly realised that my passion was in helping people who were living with long term health conditions. I joined the PARS service in 2004 and became the manager in 2013. Throughout my time at PARS I have completed many vocational courses around developing exercise sessions for long term health conditions and my Masters in Public Health.
I love working for buzz because of the great team I have around me. Everyone in the team is really passionate about what they do and we are always innovating what we deliver. At the heart of what we do is improving the health and wellbeing and physical activity levels of Manchester residents, and that is really important to me personally.
I live in Chadderton, Oldham, so not too far from Manchester and I enjoy watching and taking part in most sports. I like to cycle and often use this as my mode of transport to work. I have always been a keen swimmer and though I don’t compete anymore, I still take part in open water events each year.
