The Glen Grant has unveiled a 65-Year-Old single malt Scotch whisky, the first release in its new Splendours Collection, a selection of the distillery’s rarest maturing whiskies. Distilled in 1958 and aged in a single French oak butt, this exceptionally rare expression has been nurtured for over six decades at the distillery’s traditional Warehouse No.4.
Only 151 handcrafted decanters, designed by John Galvin and Glasstorm, have been produced. Each one is sculpted in the shape of a Mobius strip seed pod, representing the endless cycle of nature. The design is inspired by The Glen Grant’s Garden of Splendours, home to the rare Himalayan Blue Poppy, a symbol of the brand’s dedication to excellence.
A Whisky of Exceptional Craftsmanship
The whisky, which reflects the meticulous craftsmanship The Glen Grant has upheld since its founding, was distilled using coal-fired pot stills, a method that remains largely unchanged today.
Greig Stables, Master Distiller at The Glen Grant, said:
“The true scarcity of this spirit at 65 Years Old is testament to the unwavering approach to whisky making and visionary innovation which has defined The Glen Grant. Although distilled back in 1958, the methods remain almost entirely the same today, reflecting the legacy of our forefathers.”
The Glen Grant has solidified its reputation in the ultra-luxury whisky market, following previous high-profile releases such as Devotion 70-Year-Old and The Visionary One of One, a 68-Year-Old whisky created for the Distillers’ One of One auction.
Global Release and Celebration in Hong Kong
The 65-Year-Old whisky will be released in key markets worldwide, with a recommended price of $50,000 USD. To mark the occasion, The Glen Grant has collaborated with post-digital art group Random International to present “Seasons”, a live painting experience at Swire Properties Arts Month in Hong Kong.
Taking place at The Upper House Hong Kong on 27-28 March 2025, the performance will feature 65 bespoke artworks, symbolising both the whisky’s age and the cycles of nature in the distillery’s celebrated gardens.
Hannes Koch, co-founder of Random International, explained:
“Our bespoke Pixelography performance ‘Seasons’ is an artistic response to The Glen Grant’s celebration of cyclical change in The Garden of Splendours. The process transforms intangible digital imagery into hand-painted masterpieces, much like whisky-making itself—where time and nature shape something truly exceptional.”
Guests at the public exhibition will witness the artistic process unfold while experiencing The Glen Grant whisky, offering a multisensory journey into the rich heritage of the Splendours Collection.
