In a move aimed at modernising talent acquisition across the region, a consortium of 13 local authorities and key services in Greater Manchester and Blackpool has selected inploi’s candidate experience platform. The decision follows a competitive pitch and involves a substantial six-figure investment over a four-year period.
The partnership, led by Wigan Borough Council under the banner ‘the greater.jobs Collaboration,’ marks a significant upgrade to the region’s recruitment processes. The authorities and services now adopting inploi’s platform include Bolton, Bury, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan, as well as Transport for Greater Manchester and Blackpool.
Inploi, a fast-growing UK software scaleup, will revamp the greater.jobs platform to enhance the candidate experience, streamline the application process, and boost hiring efficiencies. The new system promises a more intuitive and personalised online experience for job seekers, catering to both existing and future workforce needs.
The upgraded platform includes multiple branded careers pages for each employer, designed to provide a seamless user experience. Additionally, inploi’s technology offers real-time application insights and return-on-investment (ROI) intelligence through comprehensive analytics and data visualisation tools. This will allow the involved organisations to better understand and optimise their recruitment strategies.
The decision to overhaul the recruitment system comes at a crucial time. Local councils are under significant pressure, and there is an acute labour shortage across the UK, with nearly 1 million vacancies reported. The new system is intended to address these challenges by improving efficiency in the hiring process and making it easier for the councils to attract and retain talent.
The increasing competition for skilled workers, especially from younger generations like Gen Z, has driven the need for a modern recruitment approach. In addition, with approximately one in seven employees being neurodiverse, the new platform has been developed to meet diverse needs and expectations.
Alison Herbert, the project lead for greater.jobs, explained the rationale behind the choice of inploi. “We were impressed by inploi’s creative and analytical approach to our requirements, as well as their personal and responsive service. This partnership represents a major transformation in how we manage our candidate experience, making it easier for applicants to access the many vacancies across the region. It’s an exciting development that will significantly enhance our ability to compete for talent in today’s market.”
Alex Hanson-Smith, co-founder and Chief Technology and Product Officer of inploi, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “This collaboration highlights how our technology can help organisations stay competitive in the evolving labour market. By leveraging AI, extensive data, and robust integrations, we are driving efficiencies for some of the UK’s largest employers. We hope this will set a new benchmark for public sector organisations looking to upgrade from outdated systems.”
The implementation of inploi’s platform involves integrating with several existing Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), including Jobtrain, Eploy, and Pentagull. These systems provide the backend support for the recruitment processes of the local authorities.
